EMFEP's mission is to connect our community to food, the earth, and sustainable farming by providing hands on learning.
About the Eagle Mill Farming Education Project
The Eagle Mill Farming Education Project (EMFEP) is a
tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in
Ashland, Oregon. We provide "down-to-earth” education
for Rogue Valley children through planting,
harvesting, and cooking projects. Whether it’s making
pumpkin pies with real pumpkins or pasta sauce with
fresh-picked tomatoes, EMFEP always emphasizes the
practical and aesthetic value of healthy food.
EMFEP was inspired by the fall tours that Ron Roth
began in the early 90s when the first classroom came
to his 20-acre farm in Ashland to pick pumpkins. Since
that time, the tours have expanded to include over
1,000 children from schools and organizations
throughout the valley.
In 2000, EMFEP attained 501c3 nonprofit status and
began using Ron’s tours as a foundation for a more
comprehensive education program. A grant from the
Ashland Coop initiated our first projects, and we have
since garnered support from individuals and local
foundations. EMFEP now has spring, summer, and fall
programs.
