"The Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener Program was
initiated to train volunteers to assist County Extension Faculty in
answering the overwhelming number of calls received from the urban
community. The current training program consists of 13 six-hour
classes, taught by knowledgeable veteran volunteers and OSU staff. Classes
generally begin in mid January, and are held every Wednesday 9am-4pm.
The formal classes are followed by a hands-on learning experience
consisting of 70 volunteer educational service hours."
