Lithia Park Woodland Trail
Lithia Park Woodland Trail
In Lithia Park, there is a trail that runs about one mile and takes one and a half to two hours for a leisurely walk. On this trail, you can witness an ever-changing display of native, ornamental, and exotic plant life. The trail is comprised of four segments and each takes about 30 to 40 minutes to complete. Numerical posts mark stops within each segment. There are 99 stops along the trail, which point out and name each species of tree and shrub in the park as well as other points of interest that includes two duck ponds, a Japanese garden and the Perrozi fountain.

The publication called Lithia Park: Woodland Trail Guide to Trees and Shrubs is available for two dollars at the City of Ashland Parks and Recreation Department which is located in Lithia Park at 340 South Pioneer Street and is also available from the Ashland Chamber of Commerce located at 110 East Main Street (in the Plaza area). This booklet guides you along the trail from post number one all the way through to post number 99. It's a wonderful way to spend a pleasant morning or afternoon and can also be used for a great learning experience with children who might enjoy discovering botany. The park is also a perfect place for bird watching and because of the "rushy" waters of Lithia Creek; you may even be able to spot a Dipper, a bird unique to the Pacific Northwest.
